The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a globally renowned institute in the field of global health with a special focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, teaching, and services at local, national, and international levels. Around 1,000 people from 96 countries work at Swiss TPH in areas such as infectious diseases and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health, as well as health systems and programs.
The "Administration" department is the backbone of Swiss TPH and supports the areas of research, teaching, and services with the units "Finances and Controlling", "Human Resources", "Informatics", and "Infrastructure". In total, around 70 people work in administration at Swiss TPH.
Become part of our motivated HR Services team! Due to a retirement, we are looking for a committed professional in payroll accounting as a Payroll Specialist (70 - 80%) starting May 2026 or by agreement.
Thanks to your many years of experience in payroll processing, you bring the necessary expertise and confidence to competently and reliably handle our payroll runs.
Your tasks
o Payroll accounting including year-end and monthly reconciliation work (together with or alternating with a colleague)- Social insurances and withholding taxes: registration, declaration, billing, and reconciliation with financial accounting
- Creating personnel reports and key figures
- Active participation in HR administration throughout the entire HR lifecycle
- Contact person for employees for various HR-related questions
Your profile
o Commercial or equivalent education, with specialized further training (personnel or social insurances) o Good knowledge of social insurances and withholding taxes, experience in an international environment is an advantage o Open personality with team spirit, thirst for knowledge, flexibility, and motivation to actively shape changes - combined with joy in working in a lively environment o Precise working method, strong affinity for numbers, and networked thinking o Proficient MS Excel skills and affinity for IT tools o Very good oral and written German and English skills o Since you are "in the thick of it" with us, you should not be easily unsettled and bring a healthy dose of humor and pragmatism. This makes you a perfect fit for our cheerful HR team!
