Senior Data Engineer - Cloud Migration

We are looking for a motivated person for the role of Senior Data Engineer with proven experience in migrating on-premises data warehouse solutions to the cloud. Ideally, broad knowledge of databases and data warehouse solutions and organizational support of migration projects.

Your tasks

As a Senior Cloud Migration Data Engineer, you work in several teams including data engineers and architects to support our customers in migrating data from on-premises DWH solutions to the cloud. The role requires both technical skills in classic DWH ecosystems as well as in-depth knowledge of cloud analytics platforms. You support the projects organizationally and technically with your expertise.

• You participate in one or more migration projects and ensure smooth implementation together with the team to meet time and budget goals
• You coordinate requirements with the customer and act as a coach for less experienced team members
• You are co-responsible for planning, execution, and testing of data and system migrations and support their automation
• You assist in preparing proposals for customer projects
• You share your experience within the team and help leverage synergies between projects

Your profile

• University degree ETH/UNI/FH with several years of programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala
• Over 5 years of experience in classic data warehouse and ETL tools and concepts
• Experience in modern analytics cloud platforms and methodologies such as Data Mesh
• Solid cloud expertise in AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Knowledge of Teradata and/or AWS Redshift is a plus
• Know-how in data modeling and ETL processes including their optimization
• Experience in project management
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices throughout the entire development cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Fluent in German and English
