Senior Accountant

Location: Zurich, Switzerland

Responsibilities:

• Independently manage full-cycle accounting in compliance with Swiss regulations (Swiss GAAP FER, IFRS, CO/OR – Swiss Code of Obligations).
• Bookkeeping of financial transactions including sales and purchase invoices, costs, revenues, depreciation, provisions, and liabilities.
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns (MwSt/TVA/IVA) to cantonal and federal tax authorities.
• Prepare financial statements (balance sheet, profit and loss account, cash flow statement).
• Compile tax and financial reports for management and cooperate with auditors.
• Monitor accounts receivable and payable, reconcile accounts, and manage accruals and deferrals.
• Prepare documentation for the year-end closing of financial books.
• Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and adapt accounting procedures accordingly.
• Collaborate with tax advisors and audit firms.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an independent accounting role.
• Knowledge of Swiss accounting standards and tax regulations (Swiss GAAP FER, IFRS, CO/OR).
• Proven experience in year-end closings and preparing financial statements.
• Experience in handling international transactions (both within and outside the EU).
• Strong command of accounting software commonly used in Switzerland (e.g. Abacus, SAP, Bexio).
• Familiarity with federal and cantonal tax systems, including VAT, corporate tax (CIT), and withholding tax (Quellensteuer).
• Fluent English is required.
• High level of independence, precision, and ability to work under pressure.
