Supervisor / Caregiver Visitor Services - temporary 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility for men in Switzerland. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, is responsible for the resocialization of prisoners and the protection of the public.
For our visitor services, we are looking for a committed, reliable, and socially competent person to support us as a temporary assistant for one year, starting immediately.
This is your area of responsibility
- You supervise and organize the visitor area including the associated infrastructure and ensure the smooth running of prisoner visits
- You coordinate and manage the prisoners' visit quotas
- You process applications for prisoner visits and take on administrative tasks such as documenting exceptional incidents
- As the first point of contact in visitor services, you competently assist prisoners, visitors, as well as internal and external partners – personally, by phone, or in writing
- If needed, you support other areas, especially in the entrance zone
What you bring
- You have a federal vocational certificate, a (specialized) baccalaureate, a specialized middle school certificate, or an equivalent qualification
- You communicate confidently in German, both orally and in writing, and ideally have additional language skills
- You are proficient in using the MS Office suite
- You know how to consciously and professionally balance closeness and distance in dealing with prisoners and convince with your high social competence and assertiveness
- You are mentally and physically resilient and flexible regarding irregular working hours (including weekend and holiday shifts)
- You have a clean criminal record (no entries in the criminal and debt enforcement registers) and are at least 25 years old
