The Cantonal Laboratory Zurich is responsible for monitoring compliance with legislation on food, chemicals, tobacco products, and solariums in the canton of Zurich. We test food and consumer goods in our laboratory and inspect businesses. To fulfill this important public service task, we have a quality assurance system according to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for testing laboratories (laboratory area) and ISO/IEC 17020 for inspection bodies (inspection area).
To strengthen the drinking water inspection team, we are looking for a drinking water inspector starting 01.03.2026 or by agreement, 80 – 100%.

Your main tasks
- Inspections of drinking water supplies
- Writing inspection reports and ordering corrective measures in case of detected deviations
- Sampling and field measurements in drinking water supplies
- Food law assessment of drinking water analyses
- Supporting water supplies in managing drinking water contamination, including outside office hours
Your profile
- Completed studies in environmental or natural sciences or training as a laboratory technician with a higher professional examination (HFP)
- Knowledge in process engineering / drinking water treatment is an advantage
- Assertiveness, flexibility, and communication skills
- Willingness to obtain the federal diploma for official food control
- Flawless correspondence in German, other languages are an advantage
- High independence and initiative
- Interest in food and quality assurance
- Driver's license category B
