The traffic police with its three departments is an interdisciplinary main department with a variety of cross-departmental tasks. It monitors the regulations of road traffic and enforces them where necessary. It fulfills this task by daily prevention through its visible presence on the road. In addition, it issues permits, conducts training, and advises municipalities and traffic planners on construction projects.

Head of Legal Subdivision / Deputy Traffic Engineering (m/f/d)

What to expect
- Personnel, professional, and administrative leadership of the Legal subdivision
- Deputy to the head of the Traffic Engineering department
- Ensuring the professional training and further education of employees in the Legal subdivision
- Advising cantonal and municipal authorities as well as private applicants on questions of road traffic law, traffic safety, and applicable standards
- Processing permit applications as well as consultations and preparing reports on road construction projects
- Participation in legal proceedings and representation of the expert opinion of Traffic Engineering
- Collaboration in projects and subprojects
What distinguishes you
- Completed police, traffic planning, or construction technical training, preferably with a higher degree and additional legal training
- Very good knowledge of road traffic law, especially in the areas of SVG, SSV, and VRV as well as the road law of the canton of St. Gallen
- Several years of experience in road traffic law matters
- High quality and sense of responsibility
- Strong customer orientation and resilience
