As part of the interdisciplinary STRIVE project entitled “What narratives for ecological transformation? (Re)Thinking technosolutionist and apocalyptic imaginaries for a more sustainable society”, Dr. Estefania Amer and Prof. Stephanie Missonier ( HEC Lausanne ) are opening a postdoctoral position in Information Systems (IS) / Management focusing on sustainability and storytelling/narrative.
We are particularly interested in candidates holding a PhD in Information Systems, Management, or related disciplines, with a strong interest in sustainability issues and/or narratives.
The successful candidate will design a research protocol to collect qualitative data from firms on sustainability-related topics and will be responsible for analysing these data.

Your responsibilities
As part of your work, you will study narratives produced by firms and students in the context of the ecological transformation of society. Anchored in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of Management, Information Systems, Sociology, and Literature, the main objective is to identify and (re)think dominant narratives related to ecological transformation, with a focus on the role of technology, across two specific contexts and target audiences: private and public organizations, and university students.
The candidate will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of scholars from the humanities and social sciences.
More specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting qualitative research, including the design of research protocols, data collection and analysis, and publishing results in top-tier Information Systems and Management journals and conferences.
Approximately 85% of the position will be dedicated to independant research activities
At least 15% of your time will also be dedicated to teaching and administrative tasks. For the teaching part, you will prepare and supervise exercises for bachelor courses, and you will supervise student projects.
Your qualifications
To complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills:
- PhD in Information Systems, Management, or a related discipline
- Strong interest in research on sustainability, digital futures, narratives, and utopian and dystopian technological imaginaries
- Strong qualitative research skills
- Proven publication record and demonstrated ability to publish in A-ranked conferences and journals
- Full professional fluency in English and French
- Interest in and commitment to a collaborative research culture
