The CHUV is looking for a social worker in a medical environment / specialized psychosocial worker at an 80% rate for June 1, 2026, on a permanent contract, to replace the retirement of a team member from the CAN Team sector, a hospital unit for child protection. This multidisciplinary team works on the prevention, detection, and referral of cases of abuse towards children and adolescents.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in medical care, research, and education.
Attached to the Care Directorate, the CHUV Somatic Social Service is available to patients and their families to discreetly help resolve administrative, financial, legal, family, or psychosocial issues related to hospitalization or outpatient follow-up.
The CAN Team (child abuse and neglect team) is a hospital unit for child protection. This multidisciplinary team works with families to assess situations of vulnerability or suspected abuse, whether physical, sexual, psychological, neglect, or related to exposure to domestic violence. It enables rapid assessment of situations by providing specific clinical expertise and referring them to external structures whose mission is to support families and protect children.
Mission
We offer varied work within a dynamic team, with a central role in the psychosocial assessment of complex child protection situations.
Your main responsibilities will be as follows:

- You analyze risk and protective factors and document the situation within an interdisciplinary framework
- You carry out clinical activities including meeting families, writing reports if necessary, and coordinating with the professional network (DGEJ, pediatricians, emergency services, school workers, justice, etc.)
- You collaborate closely with caregivers, doctors, psychologists, and external partners to ensure coherent and safe care
- You participate in interdisciplinary meetings, as well as training and research activities developed by the CAN Team
- You handle administrative tasks related to the position and contribute to the quality of clinical processes.
Profile
We are looking for a committed person capable of working with rigor, empathy, and discernment in sensitive situations.
- You hold a HES social worker diploma or an equivalent title recognized in Switzerland
- You hold a CAS practitioner trainer certificate for social workers, which is an asset
- You have at least 5 years of professional experience as a social worker in a pediatric or child protection service
- You possess excellent knowledge of child protection law and good knowledge of Vaud and Romandy social institutions, administrative and legal structures, as well as Swiss social insurance
- You have excellent ability to transmit your knowledge
- You demonstrate strong integration skills within a multidisciplinary team, network collaboration, and autonomous contact with people particularly vulnerable due to hospitalization
- You have excellent writing skills and are comfortable with IT tools (MS Office).
Depending on your profile, the salary class will be between level 9 and level 10.
