The Gletscherschlucht Restaurant is located at one of the most spectacular natural attractions in Switzerland – directly at the glacier gorge in Grindelwald, in the heart of the Bernese Oberland. With 50,000 visitors annually to the adjacent gorge, our location offers unique potential for a modern gastronomic concept.
In May 2026, we will reopen as the “Alpique Fusion Hub” – an innovative combination of Alpine tradition and global culinary trends. Our concept is based on three pillars: premium tourist gastronomy (May-November), sports event destination (year-round), and B2B events. We rely on a state-of-the-art MEP system kitchen that combines efficiency and quality.
To realize this vision, we are looking for a dynamic, results-oriented personality as Restaurant/Event Manager who will make our restaurant a profitable hotspot in Grindelwald with passion, professionalism, and entrepreneurial thinking.
Your role:
As Restaurant/Event Manager, you are responsible for the entire operational business and profitability of the restaurant. You combine operational excellence with strategic event management and ensure that every guest has an unforgettable experience – while simultaneously achieving financial goals.
Your main responsibilities:
Operational Management (50%)
- Overall responsibility for daily operations (kitchen, service, kiosk)
- Profitability management: ensuring positive cash flow from day 1
- Quality assurance: consistent standards in food, service, and atmosphere
- Process optimization: continuous improvement of efficiency and workflows
- Crisis management: confident resolution of problems and complaints
- Shift planning: efficient staff scheduling
Event Management (30%)
- Sports event planning: 70 events/year (Champions League, World Cup, Super Bowl, etc.)
- B2B event acquisition: 40 corporate events/year (Christmas parties, team buildings)
- Event coordination: from planning to execution
- Partner management: cooperation with companies, hotels, event agencies Event marketing: promotion and ticketing
- Revenue maximization: minimum consumption, VIP packages, upselling
Financial Management (15%)
- Budget responsibility: planning and adherence to annual budget
- Revenue optimization: strategies to increase sales and margin
- Cost management: food cost 24%, personnel 41%, operations 13%
- Reporting: weekly financial reports to management
- Liquidity management: ensuring positive cash flow
Personnel Management (5%)
- Team leadership: managing 8-10 employees (peak season), 3-4 (off-season)
- Training & development: coaching and training the team
- Motivation: creating a positive work environment
- Conflict management: constructive resolution of team conflicts
Your profile
Education & experience
- Completed training in hospitality, gastronomy, event management, or comparable
- At least 4 years of professional experience in gastronomy, including at least 2 years in a leadership position
- Event management experience: sports events, corporate events, catering
- Business knowledge: budgeting, controlling, profitability management
- Experience with system gastronomy is an advantage
