The Oncology Department provides diagnostic and therapeutic care for adult patients suffering from cancerous diseases and supports patients and their relatives. The goal is to ensure access to the best anticancer treatment, offer adapted care, and anticipate the needs of hospitalized patients (bone marrow transplant, cell therapy, immunotherapy, etc.). Together, the Cancer Center coordinates transversal activities dedicated to cancer issues between services and departments.
It includes 4 services (hematology, oncology, precision oncology, and radio-oncology) and is composed of about 300 employees.
The Hematology Service provides highly specialized and recognized medicine, notably as the Romandy center for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The integrative diagnostic unit in hematology is a central element, at the interface of other service units (transplant & cell therapy, lymphoid and myeloid), institutional laboratories, and other hospital services.
Job Description
You ensure the diagnostic management of benign or malignant hemopathies within the institution. You also act as the medical referent for the hematology laboratory, in an activity integrating clinical and analytical aspects.
Your main tasks include interpreting blood and bone marrow cytological examinations, as well as flow cytometry tests, with active participation in the development of spectral cytometry in collaboration with the laboratory. You perform bone marrow punctures and biopsies, work closely with laboratories (hematology, CMF, genetics, pathology, and molecular) and other hospital services for intra-hospital consultations, present cases at institutional hematology "tumor boards" as an expert in cytology and flow cytometry, and contribute to the development of new skills and continuous improvement projects within the service. You also participate in consultation activities.
Furthermore, you supervise hematologists in postgraduate training and participate in teaching cytology and flow cytometry within the service.
This position is open as a replacement. Depending on the profile and progression in the role, a permanent appointment as an assistant physician may be considered later.
Qualifications
You hold the federal medical diploma or have an equivalent training recognized in Switzerland by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO).
You hold the federal specialization diploma in hematology (FMH) or have an equivalent training recognized in Switzerland (MEBEKO).
You hold or are in the process of obtaining the Swiss Medical Laboratories federal diploma (FAMH) with specialization in hematology or have an equivalent training recognized in Switzerland by the FAMH.
Additionally, a cantonal practice license is required for candidates holding a specialty title before starting the position.
You have the skills to work in a team in an interdisciplinary environment.
You have a strong sense of organization and priorities. You demonstrate autonomy, great rigor, and professional conscience.
For non-French speakers, a C1 level in spoken and written French on the Bulats/Linguaskill test is required.
