The WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF is part of the Federal Research Institute WSL and thus belongs to the ETH domain. Scientific Assistant 80-100% (m/f/d)
As part of the new research center "Climate Change, Extreme Events and Natural Hazards in the Alpine Region – CERC", which was founded as part of the SLF in Davos, we are looking for a member for the Alpine Remote Sensing research group starting January 2026 (limited to 2 years)
Your tasks
• Processing and analysis of SAR satellite data to detect surface movements and potential mass movements in alpine areas
• Conducting statistical analyses and quality assurance of results
• Preparation of technical reports and scientific publications
• Collaboration in projects with Swiss partners (e.g., federal and cantonal offices)
Your profile
• Master’s degree in geography, engineering, or natural sciences
• Experience with GIS, large datasets, and InSAR-based monitoring of mass movements
• Very good programming skills; experience with AI/ML methods is an advantage
• Experience in collaboration between research and practice; ideally in the Swiss context (municipalities, cantons, federal offices)
• Very good German and English skills; French or Italian is an advantage
• A structured, reliable, and team-oriented working style
