About the job
Your role
The ideal candidate will have experience in investment research and stewardship reporting. A background in long-only investment with a focus on bottom-up research, stewardship reporting, and proxy voting is preferred. The role requires a deep understanding of fundamental research and stewardship activities, including proxy voting and shareholder engagement. Proficiency in data processing particularly, with Excel and PowerPoint, is highly valued for data maintenance. Professional communication skills in English and Japanese are required.
Your responsibility
- Investment Research
Conduct fundamental bottom-up research on assigned sectors and provide investment recommendations accompanied with financial models and writings.
- Engagement and proxy voting related activities
Take an active role in engagement and proxy voting activities and play a leading role in developing the team’s approach in this area
- Stewardship Reporting
Prepare annual stewardship reports for institutional clients and annual stewardship self-review in compliance with Japanese stewardship code. The role includes visiting clients to present stewardship reporting.
- Data Management for stewardship reporting
Contribute to data maintenance, ensuring accurate records of proxy voting, shareholder engagement, and investment activities.
Your profile
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher
Certifications: CFA, CFA Sustainable Investing Certificate (formerly CFA Certificate in ESG Investing) is desirable
Experience: minimum of 3 years of experience in active equity investment, with a focus on long-term, bottom-up approach and stewardship activities.
Technical skills:
- Strong fundamental research and financial modelling skills for company analysis
- Independent thinker with in-depth knowledge of research sectors and proven investment track record
- Data management skills for maintaining company research activities and proxy voting databases
- Knowledgeable of the Japanese stewardship Code and Japanese proxy voting practices
- Familiar with proxy voting guidelines
- Keep up-to-date knowledge of industry trend and regulations related to stewardship activities and proxy voting
- Professional English writing skills for preparing English documents and strong verbal communication skills
