At the University of Bern, three apprenticeships as Polymechanic EFZ are newly filled each year. The training is offered at the three institutes: Physical Institute, ARTORG, and DCBP.
TrainingDuring the first half of the apprenticeship, a broad foundation of knowledge and skills is laid in basic training. In the workshop, work techniques such as manual and machine manufacturing technology, assembly technology, joining technology, maintenance, and job-specific safety are taught. In the extended basic training, the various work techniques are deepened through exemplary learning and projects. The specialized training takes place in the second half of the apprenticeship. In this training phase, the operation and programming of CNC-controlled machine tools are taught. A construction internship provides insight into design and CAD technology.
The Requirements
We are looking for motivated, good secondary or very good intermediate school students with very good knowledge of mathematics and physics. In addition, interest in technical contexts, manual dexterity, good spatial imagination, as well as precise and independent working methods are required. Endurance, perseverance, patience, and reliability are also important qualities. The profession requires that you are free from allergies to metals, oils, and greases.
The Trial Apprenticeship
The trial apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to get to know the profession of polymechanic as well as the institutes ARTORG, DCBP, and the Physical Institute more closely and to gain first experiences in the working world. The trial apprenticeship is offered from January to June, from Monday to Wednesday each week.
