Criminal Technical Clerk (STC)

Criminal technicians support the clarification of crimes. Specialists in criminal technology secure evidence at the crime scene and document the image of the evidence using modern procedures. You handle the personal identification service and use technical and scientific methods to search for evidence, secure proof, and evaluate it. In this way, you create a reliable basis for investigations and criminal proceedings. This basis can also be used in court.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a criminal technical clerk on a contractual basis.
Your field of responsibilities
- Professionally advise operational forces on questions of securing evidence and working at crime scenes
- Search for and secure evidence in various criminal cases
- Apply criminal technology at crime scenes, including securing evidence and documentation
- Photographically document crime scenes, persons, accidents, and evidence
- Carry out measures of the identification service and identification work
- Evaluate evidence and analyze evidence in the laboratory in the fields of classical and scientific criminal technology as well as assess evidence qualitatively
- Write technical-criminal reports, secure evidence that can be used in court, and prepare material evidence for investigative and prosecutorial authorities
- Ensure that standards, guidelines, and legal regulations are observed
- Further develop methods, devices, and processes of criminal technology
- Perform on-call and weekend services
What we wish from you
- Completed studies in forensic science or criminology (University of Lausanne or equivalent training) or federal professional certificate as a police officer with professional experience in criminal police, preferably in the field of criminal technology
- Willingness to continuously complete training and further education in the field of criminal technology and forensics
- Strong interest in technical-criminal and criminalistic work
- High sense of responsibility as well as conscientious handling of evidence and means of proof, as they are often unique and not reproducible
- Good legal knowledge as well as understanding of criminal procedural processes and general legal conditions
- Structured, precise, and independent working style with a very good receptive talent
- Very good digital competence as well as pleasure in using IT tools and technical analysis and action devices
- Persuasiveness, flexibility, and great ability to cope with psychological pressure, especially in cases of actions at difficult event sites (e.g. capital crimes, major events, handling of deceased persons)
