Your Task
Your task within the framework of Archival Education consists of supporting the scientific staff, particularly in the area of electronic archiving. You will participate in projects for exporting digital data from the offices' systems, validate and process electronic submissions, and take care of the mapping of metadata for the Department of Description. You will test and install freeware tools, maintain existing helper programs, and actively and purposefully contribute your growing IT knowledge to the further development of an efficient and future-oriented electronic archival education. For more complex tasks, you will collaborate with the IT department of the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs.
Requirements
- a completed study (first to fourth semester): History and Computer Science or Computational Linguistics or Computer Science or Computational Linguistics with an interest in History
- interest in archival work and historical sources
- programming skills, understanding of XML and databases, and the ability to install and operate freeware and command-line tools
- willingness to familiarize yourself with unknown topics and file formats
