The Department of Clinical Psychology for Children and Adolescents is looking for an intern for the SENTI-M Study starting immediately or by arrangement. The internship lasts a maximum of 300 hours and can be completed flexibly on a part-time basis.
The SENTI-M Study is a prospective longitudinal study investigating the relationship between social media use and the mental health of adolescents. The focus is on an Experience Sampling Design (EMA), where participants answer short app-based surveys several times a day about their current well-being, smartphone use, and relevant psychosocial factors (e.g., self-esteem, social support, FOMO). This aims to capture dynamic interactions between everyday behavior and psychological experiences at the individual level. Additionally, passive smartphone data will be collected to examine whether such behavioral indicators can serve as digital markers for changes in mental well-being. At the end of the one-year data collection period, a diagnostic interview will be conducted to assess mental disorders in children and adolescents according to DSM-5. We are looking for you to support us in recruitment, monitoring data collection, and conducting diagnostic interviews.
Tasks
As part of the research internship, you will support the research team particularly in the following areas: You will accompany participants during ongoing data collection, provide support for technical or content-related questions, and reach out in case of prolonged inactivity to promote adherence. Furthermore, you will be involved in the recruitment process by contacting potential participating schools and supporting organizational processes. Additionally, you will conduct structured diagnostic telephone interviews (Children-DIPS).
The internship offers the opportunity to acquire solid skills in telephone communication, relationship building with adolescent study participants, as well as in diagnostic procedures and handling longitudinal data collection in the field of child and adolescent psychology.
