Chief Resident or Deputy at the University Neurorehabilitation Service
The University Neurorehabilitation Service of the CHUV and the Lavigny Institution is offering a position for a chief resident or deputy chief resident, with an activity rate of 50% to 100%, starting May 1, 2026, or as agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Department of Clinical Neurosciences includes the departments of neurosurgery, neurology, neuropsychology and neurorehabilitation, the Leenaards Memory Center, the Neuroscience Research Center, and the Spinal Surgery Service. It offers integrated and personalized care to patients suffering from diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, from brain to muscle.
Spread over several sites, the Lavigny Institution consists of a neurological hospital providing inpatient and outpatient services, two residential departments for adults with disabilities, one with intellectual disability and the other with physical issues, a specialized school, and a workshop and vocational training sector.
The inter-institutional University Neurorehabilitation Service (SUN) brings together the neurorehabilitation structures of CHUV and the Lavigny Institution and belongs to the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at CHUV. SUN provides advanced care for neurological patients, with particular expertise in cognition and behavior, spasticity, neuromuscular diseases, and neuro-urology.
SUN covers the entire neurorehabilitation pathway, with an acute neurorehabilitation unit (2 beds for post-coma awakening patients and a mobile team providing early neurorehabilitation care within days of neurological injury), two post-acute neurorehabilitation hospital units (75 beds between Lavigny Hospital and CHUV), an outpatient and day hospital neurorehabilitation center at CHUV, as well as research laboratories allowing SUN patients access to translational research and innovative treatment technologies and approaches.
SUN maintains close links with the Neurology, Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery Services, and the Leenaards Memory Center within the DNC, optimizing care for patients requiring neurorehabilitation.
250 people work within the inter-institutional SUN perimeter. The SUN medical team reports to a single Head of Service at CHUV and consists of 5 senior physicians specialized in neurology and/or physical medicine and rehabilitation, 8 chief residents, and 7 assistant physicians.
