Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialization of prisoners and the protection of the public.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a reliable, responsible, and motivated individual starting May 2026 or by arrangement. You will take on a demanding and meaningful role as a supervisor / caregiver in the intake group of the security-oriented special enforcement.
This is your field of activity
- You supervise, occupy, and accompany prisoners within the daily structures and act as a contact person for concerns
- You ensure an orderly daily routine, ensure compliance with and enforcement of safety and service regulations, and are able to recognize and manage critical situations
- Furthermore, you participate in leisure and group activities of the prisoners
- You take on administrative tasks such as writing reports, documenting events, keeping a daily journal, etc.
What you bring
- You have completed vocational training with a federal certificate of competence, (specialized) maturity, specialized middle school certificate, or an equivalent qualification and ideally have professional experience in a similar care function
- You have very good oral and written German skills and ideally knowledge of another language
- You are proficient in using the MS Office suite
- You are both mentally and physically resilient and flexible working hours (on-call and weekend duties) are compatible with your other commitments
- You have an impeccable reputation (i.e., no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register) and are at least 25 years old
