The Adult Psychiatry Service West Sector of the Psychiatry Department of CHUV is looking for a nurse for February 1, 2026, between 80-90%.
Context
The University Hospital of Vaud (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Service West (SPPAO) is one of the services of the Psychiatry Department of CHUV (DP-CHUV), serving among others the western Vaud region. It provides comprehensive and multidisciplinary care to anyone suffering from mental disorders and residing in western Vaud. Furthermore, SPPAO works closely with other department services and strives to offer quality and excellence services that promote proximity and are effectively integrated into regional networks.
To promote comprehensive care, teams consist of doctors, nurses, ASSC, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, etc. The role and integration of relatives are particularly valued and encouraged.
Mission
- You ensure preventive, curative, and educational nursing care through mastery of clinical assessment for patients with psychiatric and somatic disorders
- You actively participate in the evaluation, analysis of clinical situations, and development of care plans based on evidence
- You ensure the effectiveness of therapeutic projects by integrating the requirements of interdisciplinary work into daily practice
- You ensure good information and quality reception of patients and their relatives
- You are proactive and ensure initiatives to improve care efficiency.
Profile
- You hold a HES nursing diploma (or an equivalent title, as well as recognition from the Red Cross for foreign diploma holders, mandatory)
- You have good knowledge of the Vaud network and the Swiss health system
- You have good clinical skills in psychiatry or are interested in this discipline
- You demonstrate availability and flexibility
- You are involved in the evolution of the nursing profession
- You have good organizational skills
- You master the French language
- You have good computer skills.
Generic skills:
- Mastery of psychiatric nursing care: knowledge of psychiatric pathologies, drug treatments, psychic care, and psychotherapeutic interventions. Master clinical nursing assessment of mental state and carry the nursing vision in a multidisciplinary manner appropriately. Ability to perform clinical assessments by phone and to orient according to evaluation
- Management of crises and violence: ability to identify tension situations and defuse crises, use non-violent communication techniques, and intervene in emergencies. Ability to contain psychiatric emergency situations
- Risk management: identify and prevent risks of violence, implement appropriate safety measures. Know how to meet and support people in suicidal distress
- Observation skills: observe patient behavior, detect state changes, and report to the team based on clinical nursing assessment of mental state
- Sense of organization and priorities: plan care activities, organize work according to patient needs and resources considering emergencies
- Work in a multidisciplinary team: actively participate in team meetings, communicate effectively with other team members, and collaborate to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Sense of ethics and professional discretion: respect and enforce patients' rights and confidentiality of their information
- Writing reports and handovers: ensure clarity and accuracy of information transmitted to the team and respect writing deadlines.
