Internship in Field Ecology and Forest Fire Research (m/f/d)
The Forest Resources and Forest Management research unit investigates the future viability of various tree species as well as reforestation after forest fires and offers in the Plant Regeneration Ecology group a 6-month internship (mid-March – mid-September 2026)
You will assist with investigations on shoot and root growth in native and non-native tree species as well as with the recording of leaf emergence in the polytunnel experiment (https://www.wsl.ch/de/projekte/polytunnel-greenhouse-experiment.html ). This also includes the installation and maintenance of stem and root dendrometers. From June to August, you will support our field botanist with vegetation and regeneration surveys in two forest fire areas (VS and SO). During this time, you will live in accommodation in Valais/Solothurn. Besides fieldwork, you will be responsible for data management. If suitable, you will also assist with data analysis.
You have recently completed your bachelor's or master's degree in environmental sciences or a related field and hold a category B driving license. You are terrain-capable, enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions, work precisely, and have a flair for plants as well as technology. You preferably speak German and French and can also communicate fluently in English. You enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team and appreciate flexible and independent work.
Please send your complete application to Barbara Moser, Head of the Plant Regeneration Ecology group, by submitting the required documents via our application portal.
