Job Description
Introduction
We are seeking an experienced Outreach and Communication Manager with a strong background in science communication and scholarly publishing work on Open Research Europe (ORE) platform , soon to be hosted at CERN. As part of a growing team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive outreach, communication, and marketing strategies that promote the platform and engage with the scientific community.
Functions
Strategic Communication and Marketing
- Develop and implement outreach, communication, and marketing strategies aligned with ORE’s mission, in coordination with ORE’s partners and funders.
- Promote platform awareness among researchers, institutions, funders, and libraries.
- Create messaging frameworks and materials for diverse stakeholders.
- Monitor and adjust communication strategies to ensure effectiveness.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Coordination
- Build and maintain relationships with partners and project stakeholders.
- Represent ORE at conferences, workshops, and community events.
Vendor Management & Content Coordination
- Coordinate with external vendors for marketing and content development.
- Oversee creation of promotional materials and ensure brand consistency.
- Manage vendor timelines, deliverables, and quality standards.
Social Media & Digital Communication
- Manage ORE’s social media channels and digital presence.
- Develop content calendars and oversee daily operations.
- Engage with the research community and monitor relevant trends.
- Track and report on social media metrics and engagement.
Qualifications
Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Science Communication, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in: science communication, scholarly publishing outreach, open science initiatives, open access advocacy, or research communication;
- Experience managing social media channels for scientific or academic organisations;
- Experience coordinating with external vendors or agencies for marketing and communications;
- Strong network within open science, scholarly publishing, or research communities preferred;
- Deep understanding of the open access publishing and open science landscape.
