Supervisor / Caregiver GFH 100%
The Justice and Reintegration (JuWe) department is responsible for the execution of sentences and measures as part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich, as well as for the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of people who have committed offenses and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Main Department of Investigative Prisons Zurich (UGZ) - one of seven main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for investigative and security detention. One of these prisons is the Limmattal Prison (GFL), located in the district building of Dietikon, which, together with the Horgen Prison Department (GFH), offers 121 places for detainees. In addition to a department for adult detainees, there is a strictly separated youth department and a crisis intervention department in the GFL.
To complement our team at Horgen Prison, we are looking for a resilient, open-minded, and humorous personality starting September 1, 2025, or by agreement. The position is limited to six months.

This is your area of responsibility
- You accompany, care for, and engage with detained individuals within the daily structures from their entry to their exit. In doing so, you take on various functions and actively contribute to reintegration.
- As the first point of contact, you recognize the special challenges faced by detained individuals and provide them with orientation and support in this difficult situation.
- To ensure an orderly daily routine, you ensure compliance with and enforcement of our safety and service regulations. In critical moments, you are able to recognize and professionally manage crisis situations.
- As part of an interdisciplinary team, you also take on administrative tasks, such as creating reports and documenting events, as well as participating in meetings and team discussions.
This is what you bring
- You approach people in a coercive context with a holistic perception and build professional social relationships with them. You know how to consciously regulate proximity and distance to detainees and approach crisis situations cautiously and proactively.
- You bring great enthusiasm for your new work environment and actively participate in the development and design of detention conditions in investigative detention.
- You are psychologically resilient, and changing working hours (shift, night, weekend, and holiday services) are compatible with your other commitments.
- Since obtaining your federal certificate of competence, your (vocational) maturity, your vocational school diploma, or an equivalent qualification, you have gained several years of professional experience in your field - ideally in a comparable activity.
- You express yourself well in German, both in writing and orally, and ideally have knowledge of other languages.
- You are proficient with the MS Office suite.
- You are at least 25 years old and have a clean record.
This is what makes this position special
- You can look forward to a challenging, interesting, and diverse activity as well as a supportive, reliable team.
- After a careful introduction to this dynamic and extraordinary work environment, you can take advantage of various internal or external training opportunities - such as the part-time training to become a specialist in the execution of sentences with a federal certificate.
- The workplace is centrally located and easily accessible by public transport.
- JuWe offers attractive employment conditions according to cantonal guidelines.
