Job Description
Implementation of the PHCI program:
Develop, implement, and update hygiene and infection prevention policies and procedures in accordance with national and international guidelines. Ensure the implementation of the objectives of the cantonal hygiene and infection prevention program.
Training and monitoring:
Promote best practices in hygiene and infection prevention, organize training sessions, and conduct regular audits to improve compliance. Develop and propose comprehensive educational programs for all staff levels.
Interdisciplinary collaboration:
Work closely with physicians, other IPSR nurses, and hygiene committees. Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address complex infection control issues and manage outbreaks.
Data management and reporting:
Collect, analyze, and interpret infection surveillance data. Prepare and present regular reports on infection rates, trends, and prevention measures to management and relevant committees.
Quality improvement:
Lead and manage quality improvement initiatives related to infection control. Assess and monitor the healthcare environment regarding infection risks, making recommendations to improve facility design, equipment, and work practices.
Qualifications
Education and training:
- Nursing diploma from a recognized institution
- Specialization in infection prevention and control.
- Continuing professional development in infection prevention practices
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in care and infection prevention.
- Proven experience in implementing infection control protocols
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a hospital or long-term care facility.
Skills:
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent teaching and staff training skills
- Proficiency with common computer tools and healthcare information systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of current infection prevention and control guidelines
- Understanding of microbiology and epidemiology principles
- Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
