The Cantonal Tax Office is responsible for enforcing the provisions of federal, cantonal, and municipal taxes. It ensures the complete registration of all taxpayers, professional and customer-oriented tax assessment, and uniform tax collection.
The main department Natural Persons is responsible for the uniform assessment of income and wealth taxes and the examination of the refund of withholding tax for around 330,000 natural persons as well as for the valuation of around 22,000 unlisted companies based in the canton of St. Gallen.
To complement our team, we are looking for you as of January 1, 2026, or by agreement as

Workload: 80%-100%

What to expect
- You prepare assessments in accordance with regulations and carry them out independently within your workload
- You provide competent information – before, during, and after the assessment procedure
- You handle legal remedies, process objections, and prepare statements for appeals and complaints before the Administrative Appeals Commission
- You work closely with the municipal tax offices and maintain a constructive exchange at eye level
What distinguishes you
- You have a Bachelor’s / Master’s degree or another higher education in business administration (e.g., fiduciary with a federal certificate, finance and accounting specialist with a federal certificate, or an equivalent qualification)
- You bring several years of professional experience in the field of taxes, fiduciary, or banking
- You are resilient, decisive, and responsible
- You convince with confident appearance, communication, and negotiation skills
- You think and act customer-oriented
