About the job

The Bern Historical Museum is one of the most important cultural history museums in Switzerland. It is a growing repository of knowledge and experience for the culture and history of Bern and the world. The collections on history, archaeology, and ethnography comprise around 567,000 objects. They offer insights into living environments from different historical periods and cultural contexts. The integrated Einstein Museum places the life and work of the physicist in the context of world history.

Internship in the Program Department (60% annual working time)

Are you looking for an exciting entry into museum work? Are you interested in civic engagement?
In this internship, you will support the coordination and supervision of volunteers and their projects (approx. 50%). In addition, you will participate in the planning and implementation of various activities in the program area, such as events (approx. 10%).
Specifically, you will assist with the following tasks during this internship:
  • Management of personnel and deployment data of all museum volunteers
  • Support in communication and correspondence
  • Accompanying volunteers during assignments on site, including weekends
  • Recognition and quality assurance of voluntary engagement
  • Design, research, implementation, and evaluation of deployment areas in collaboration with museum volunteers and staff
  • Participation in events and training evenings
  • Collaboration on projects, concepts, and mediation formats of the Program Department
Our internship announcement is aimed at individuals at the bachelor level in history, cultural mediation, or a similar field of study. You are empathetic and appreciate working with people. Organizational talent and communication skills characterize you. Your spoken and written German skills are impeccable, and you are willing to work on weekends and evenings.
