The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. This position is part of NFS Muoniverse, a new Swiss National Research Priority (NFS) led by the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI and the University of Zurich. Muoniverse promotes muon research in the fields of particle physics, quantum materials, as well as applications ranging from energy research to cultural heritage.
The network unites around 30 research teams from universities, research institutions, and museums across Switzerland, creating a unique platform for interdisciplinary collaboration.

For the new NFS Muoniverse, we are looking to fill the position as soon as possible:
Your tasks
- As a member of the Executive Board of Muoniverse, you will work closely with the four-member Directorate from PSI and participate in decisions regarding operational management
- As Head of Office, you are responsible for a team consisting of one administrator and 2.5 full-time positions in the areas of equality, communication and outreach, knowledge and technology transfer, as well as open science. This team supports Muoniverse in internal matters and external relations
- Together with the Executive Board, the involved institutions, and the Muoniverse consortium, you will build administrative structures, provide strategic advice, and ensure smooth operations
Your profile
- University degree and experience in a research environment or in coordinating scientific projects
- Experience in organization, administration, and coordination of complex projects or networks, ideally in an interdisciplinary environment
- Open, communicative personality with a structured, flexible, and service-oriented working style and enjoyment in collaborating with diverse stakeholders
- Experience in team leadership or network coordination as well as interest in connecting people, ideas, and institutions
- Very good German and English skills; additional experience or knowledge in areas such as equality, communication and outreach, knowledge and technology transfer, or open science is an advantage
