As the Urban Development Section and part of the City Building Department, we are committed to a future-oriented, sustainable development of the city of Aarau. To this end, we develop strategies, concepts, and measures on key topics such as urban planning, mobility, neighborhood and housing development, ecology, and climate as an interdisciplinary team, taking into account social and economic aspects.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a

You play a central role in adapting the city of Aarau to climate change. In doing so, you implement the measures of the climate adaptation strategy with the associated action plan in close cooperation with the urban development team as well as the responsible specialist departments such as civil engineering or city greenery. You continuously develop the climate adaptation action plan, monitor its implementation, and ensure effective controlling.

Furthermore, you are jointly responsible for implementing the measures of the biodiversity strategy. You review private building applications and municipal projects regarding their ecological quality as well as their contribution to promoting biodiversity, ecological networking, and climate adaptation. In interdisciplinary collaboration with internal and external project partners, you design climate-resilient and biodiversity-promoting urban spaces and accompany projects from conception to implementation.

You have a bachelor's or master's degree in landscape architecture, environmental engineering, or a related field. You have experience in managing complex projects, especially in the conception and support of the structural implementation of climate adaptation measures. Furthermore, you are well acquainted with promoting biodiversity in urban areas.

You are passionate about designing high-quality public spaces, present yourself confidently and professionally, and represent the city's interests with conviction. You are characterized by joy in interdisciplinary collaboration, negotiation skills, and a keen sense of political processes, as well as articulate oral and written communication skills. Your conceptual thinking and project management experience complete your profile.
