Intern Operations Engineer (80-100%) - 1466
Ensuring electricity in Switzerland
As an Intern Operations Engineer, you contribute to the foundations for the safe operation of the transmission grid. You will work particularly on concepts and the development of the data basis to enable the development of new tools to support the 24-hour operation of the transmission grid. For this, you will gain an overview of the operational data of the system operation and develop a concept together with the data owners and your team colleagues for the integration, labeling, and maintenance of this data. Furthermore, your tasks include the following:
- Familiarization with the functions and processes of transmission grid operation
- Support in analyzing significant events in transmission grid operation, as well as in preparing corresponding reports and developing improvement measures
- Participation in projects for the further or new development of processes (e.g., with new types of equipment in and on the transmission grid) and/or IT systems that are used in real-time in transmission grid operation
- Data evaluation and presentation in connection with periodic reports on transmission grid operation or specific issues using Python, SQL, FME, and Tableau
- Independently conducting smaller analysis projects (e.g., network simulations in PSS/E), developing recommendations for action, and presenting the results
This is how you make a difference
For this versatile internship, you are able to quickly and independently familiarize yourself with new topics, apply theoretical knowledge in practice, and grasp larger contexts. You have a communicative, precise, and analytical personality. In addition, you bring the following:
- University or university of applied sciences degree in electrical engineering or related technical sciences
- Interest in the operation of the Swiss transmission grid
- A flair for data and interest in data models as well as the development of data-driven tools
- Basic programming skills for data analysis (Python, R, etc.), ideally first experience with DataBricks
- Experience with network simulation software (PSS/E, etc.) is an advantage
- Very good Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel)
- Very good German or French skills and very good English skills
This is how we inspire you
- Comprehensive insight into the different aspects of operating the Swiss transmission grid: control center and grid management, grid facilities and asset management, energy market and system services.
- Versatile and exciting tasks in a company unique to Switzerland
- Flexible working hours (42 hours per week) in a motivated team
- 25-30 working days of vacation plus company holidays between Christmas and New Year
- State-of-the-art working environment in close proximity to Aarau or Prilly-Malley train stations
