Assistant Physician for the Genetic Medicine Service
The Genetic Medicine Service is looking for an assistant physician between 80% - 100% for a start date on November 1, 2026.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Genetic Medicine Service brings together, on the CHUV site, mixed activities of clinical and biological genetics. Its mission is to receive patients who have a suspected or diagnosed genetic disease in a family member. Physicians and genetic counselors then evaluate with the patient the indications for performing a genetic analysis to confirm the diagnosis, as well as the implications of such an analysis for the patient and their family members. This consultation is also intended for healthy individuals who question their risk of developing a known genetic disease in their family and/or their risk of transmitting this disease to their offspring.
The medical team provides consultations in various fields including:
- prenatal genetics
- neonatal genetics related to maternity and neonatal resuscitation
- pediatrics
- metabolic diseases
- oncogenetics
- adult genetics in connection with the different services of our institution (neurogenetics, cardiogenetics, nephrogenetics...)
Genetic medicine is constantly evolving and requires strong interactions between clinical activities and laboratory activities. The clinical and laboratory teams being located on site, high-throughput genetic sequencing analyses (routine sequencing of >5,000 genes) are discussed weekly. You will be trained in genetic medicine by the existing team, progressively gain autonomy, and participate in the innovative activities of the service. We wish to support you throughout the FMH training in genetic medicine.

- You inform the patient about the most appropriate medical care or propose personalized prevention
- You provide direct clinical activity in the care of patients and their families, under medical supervision
- You assume administrative management activities related to the position, consultation reports, insurance requests and reports, and billing
- You attend the Unit and Service clinical conferences and seminars.
Profile
- You hold a Swiss federal medical diploma or an equivalent foreign title recognized by MEBEKO
- You master the French language, spoken and written, at level B2 (certificate required)
