Restaurant Manager at the Hospitality Service
We are looking for a restaurant manager at 80% - 100% for the maternity, orthopedic hospital, and Nestlé hospital sites. The starting date is planned for January 1, 2026, or to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals and one of the best in the world according to the 2025 ranking by Newsweek magazine. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading and European-scale role in medical care, medical research, and training.
The catering sector, cafeterias, kiosks, and snack bars are attached to the Hospitality Service of the Hospital Logistics Department. It is responsible for the sale of fast food items in self-service at various points of sale within the hospital city and external sites. The service offers staff and visitors catering that corresponds to the institution's orientation as well as the market offer.
Mission
- You plan, lead, and control the activities of employees according to the objectives and mission of the service, in collaboration with the sector manager
- You organize daily work and ensure the smooth operation of the different restaurants
- You manage administrative follow-up, daily cash flows, and sales policy (management of displays, up-to-date selling prices) under the supervision of the sector manager
- You manage product orders (food and non-food) and/or equipment orders and supervise their maintenance
- You organize and conduct performance reviews and propose to your superior all administrative steps, training, promotions, or others that result from them
- You apply and enforce hygiene standards and guidelines
- You ensure communication and information flow within your teams.
Profile
- You hold a Federal VET Diploma (CFC) in hospitality or catering
- You have at least 3 years of experience in the catering sector
- You have experience in team management and leadership (more than 15 people)
- You are comfortable with numbers and have a good knowledge of cash register tools (TCPos)
- You know the principle of self-control (Odal), as well as hygiene standards (HACCP)
- You are a hands-on, dynamic person with a strong customer orientation
- You are organized, rigorous, autonomous, and able to respect and manage priorities
- You have a good command of common office tools
- You are required to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
