We are looking for reinforcement for our Acoustics / Noise Reduction department in the Environmental Acoustics group.
Research Area
This new position is part of the starting research project "Auralisation of Railway noise in Switzerland" (ARCH), which is being carried out by Empa on behalf of the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) and the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). The goal of ARCH is to create acoustic simulations and visualizations to better communicate noise protection in the railway sector in Switzerland and make it intuitively experienceable.
- Key role in a two-year research project on artificial audibility (auralization) of railway noise in Switzerland
- Further development of in-house simulation models from the EU project SILVARSTAR and creation of audio-visual demonstrations for the Swiss context
- Communication with authorities and stakeholders
- Maintenance of knowledge transfer within the department and Empa
- Presentation of technical-scientific results through publications and lectures
- Completed scientific-technical university degree or doctorate
- Independent, proactive personality with quick comprehension and thorough working style
- In-depth knowledge in acoustics, audio signal processing, programming (Matlab, C#), and data analysis
- Knowledge of railway noise and experience with the Unity game engine are advantageous
- Experience in written reporting and presentations
- Very good oral and written skills in German and English
