About the job
Research Associate Digital Health & Interactive Systems 100 %
You do not develop just anything, but human-centered interactive systems with real benefits in health, education, and the working world - from multimodal inference to deployable prototypes with real users.
Department: School of Engineering
Start of work: Immediately or by arrangement. The position is initially limited until 31.03.2028, with the option of extension.
- You work with technical responsibility in research and innovation projects and develop concrete, application-oriented interactive systems with a focus on Digital Health as well as other application areas.
- You design, implement, and evaluate machine learning and signal processing approaches for multimodal sensor data (e.g., behavioral, interaction, or physiological data) to recognize states and adaptively control systems.
- You develop end-to-end prototypes – from data collection through data processing and inference to functioning applications with clearly defined interaction or assessment workflows.
- You implement user interfaces in web and mobile applications and integrate them with the developed ML components; if necessary, you also work with XR-based approaches.
- You work on integration into existing systems (e.g., via FHIR or openEHR) and support studies with real users, including data collection and evaluation.
- You work closely with clinical and industrial partners and contribute to publications, project reports, and funding applications.
- Optional: Depending on your profile, you may occasionally take on tasks in teaching, continuing education, or internal projects.
- You have a university degree at the master’s level in computer science, medical informatics, or a related field; with a very suitable profile, a bachelor’s degree with relevant professional experience is also possible. A doctorate is an advantage.
- You bring initial professional or substantial project experience (at least one year), ideally in one or more of the following areas: interactive systems, machine learning, signal processing, web or mobile development, digital health.
- You think conceptually strong and implement pragmatically at the same time; you communicate appropriately with partners from research, clinic, and practice.
- You are an open, team-oriented, and flexible personality with joy in interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Nice to have: Experience with FHIR, openEHR, XR, study implementations, or the development of data-driven health applications.
