Biomedical Analysis Technician at the Institute of Pathology
The Institute of Pathology of the CHUV is looking for an experienced biomedical analysis technician (TAB) at 80%, to join the molecular biology (MBL) and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) laboratories, starting May 1, 2026.

Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. In collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a reference role in care, research, and education.
The Institute of Pathology provides essential clinical diagnostic activity for patient therapeutic guidance. It is accredited according to ISO 15189 standard.
The molecular biology and FISH laboratories perform diagnostic tests from tissue biopsies, surgical specimens, cytological samples, and blood (cell-free DNA). They mainly work on solid oncological and hematological pathologies.
The analyses include mutation, translocation, amplification, deletion searches, lymphoid clonality tests, microsatellite instability, and high-throughput sequencing (NGS) using Illumina and Ion Torrent technologies.
The technical team consists of 9 TABs distributed between the two laboratories.
Mission
- You perform molecular diagnostic and FISH analyses according to current procedures
- You control quality, participate in result interpretation, and prepare analysis reports
- You participate in the development and validation of new diagnostic tests
- You contribute to solving analytical problems
- You participate in quality management system and infrastructure management
- You take part in training new collaborators and interns
- You contribute to maintaining smooth communication within the unit and with internal and external prescribers.
Profile
- You hold a Swiss Red Cross recognized ES diploma as a biomedical analysis technician or an equivalent recognized title
- You master molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, RT-PCR, pyrosequencing, NGS library preparation, etc.)
- Ideally, you have experience in FISH analyses and reading histological preparations
- You are comfortable with IT tools and able to adapt to new software
- You have knowledge of accreditation and quality assurance
- You are proactive, rigorous, versatile, with good communication skills and enjoy teamwork
- You have good writing skills in French.
