The Social Services of the Canton of Glarus, with their three locations, form a service center in the social sector of the canton. This newly created position is part of a pilot project and offers you the opportunity to actively co-develop and shape new approaches at the interface between asylum and refugee affairs. You work close to the people and are active directly in the living environment of the clients within the framework of outreach social work.

We are looking for this exciting and designable position in the field of income security a

Social Worker / Income Security in the Refugee Sector 80–100 %

starting May 1, 2026, or by arrangement with the workplace in Näfels.

The position is initially limited to two years with the option of extension.

Tasks

• Management of social assistance files according to legal requirements and ensuring basic medical care
• Outreach socio-pedagogical support in the living environment of the clients (accommodations, apartments, social space)
• Support and promotion of social and professional integration
• Pragmatic support in everyday life (e.g., accompanying to appointments, on-site support with housing and life issues)
• Support and assistance in finding housing and acquiring housing skills
• Interdisciplinary cooperation with specialist agencies, social insurances, and authorities

Requirements

• University of applied sciences degree in social work or a comparable tertiary education
• Experience in managing social assistance files
• Good knowledge of social assistance law and social insurance system
• Enjoyment of outreach work and willingness to be actively on the move in the social space
• Pragmatic, solution-oriented working style and hands-on mentality
• Good communication and administrative skills
• High social competence, empathy, and ability to work in a team
• Independence, resilience, and assertiveness
• Driver's license category B
