Job Description
The job in brief:
Job Title - Automation & Web Apps Engineer
Working model - hybrid from Switzerland
Team - you will join the new Automation department.
Level - Professional
Location - Chiasso, Switzerland (only for hybrid positions)
Contract - Permanent - full-time (EUR 36 h/week)
What your impact will be:
Lead automation projects.
You will build and improve automation workflows using JavaScript, Google Apps Script, and tools like n8n. These workflows will connect different systems (such as Jira, Asana, Salesforce, or Google Workspace) using APIs.
Develop internal tools.
Use web development skills (JavaScript, React or Svelte, REST APIs, PostgreSQL) to create internal dashboards and applications that help teams work more efficiently.
Write clean and reliable code.
Ensure your code is easy to understand, maintain, and follow best practices. Focus on building tools that are simple, useful, and long-lasting.
Work with cross-functional teams.
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to identify automation opportunities, gather requirements, and deliver valuable solutions.
Solve issues and improve stability.
Quickly investigate bugs or problems in both web apps and automation scripts. Ensure the systems you build are stable and trustworthy.
Follow agile practices.
Take part in agile ceremonies, use Git for version control, review code, and ensure proper testing before releases.
Stay updated.
Follow the latest trends in AI, automation, and web development. Suggest and test new tools or approaches that could improve our systems or save time.
Qualifications
Your expertise:
Experience:
3+ years of hands-on experience creating automation systems or web applications that produced measurable impact (such as increased revenue, lower costs, or improved customer satisfaction).
Builder mindset:
You move fast—creating quick prototypes and improving them rapidly based on feedback.
Structured but flexible approach:
You document processes and designs only when needed, focusing more on outcomes than paperwork.
Problem solver:
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for solving technical problems.
Technical communicator:
Able to explain complex ideas simply and clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Your Skills and Tools
Programming Languages & Frameworks:
Strong in JavaScript, HTML, CSS. Experience with React or Svelte is a plus.
Automation Tools:
Comfortable with Google Apps Script, n8n, Python micro-services, OpenAI (including function calling), and Google Gemini.
Data & APIs:
Good knowledge of REST APIs, webhooks, and both SQL and NoSQL databases (such as PostgreSQL).
Debugging & Testing:
Able to find and fix problems quickly using tools like Chrome DevTools, log aggregators, and regex.
Collaboration:
Clear communication, teamwork skills, and experience with Git and agile development.
Security awareness:
Understand access permissions, API tokens, and how to manage secrets in automation flows.
