Substitute members for the Administrative Court
The Administrative Court is the highest cantonal court in the field of administrative law. It is particularly responsible for disputes concerning spatial planning, construction and environmental law, expropriation law, tax law, causal contribution law, labor law, social assistance, healthcare, migration law, police law, state contributions, political rights, and education.
According to Art. 75 para. 1 of the cantonal constitution, the cantonal council elects the members and substitute members of the Administrative Court, with the court having the right to propose half of the substitute members (Section 33 para. 1 sentence 3 of the Administrative Justice Act).
Due to the resignation of two previous substitute members, we are looking for two candidates who the court will propose to the cantonal council as substitute members for the Administrative Court for the remainder of the term 2025–2031.

Profile
- In-depth knowledge of administrative procedural law as well as comprehensive specialized knowledge in one or more of the above-mentioned areas of special administrative law acquired through many years of practice and/or scientific activity;
- Ability to engage deeply with difficult legal questions and complex facts, as well as the ability to distill these to their essence and present them clearly in writing;
- Lawyer's license and/or dissertation;
- Willingness to draft ten judgment requests annually and to participate in other matters;
- High temporal flexibility;
- Voting rights in the canton of Zurich;
- Impeccable character.
Offer
A placement in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th department is planned. Substitute members do not have a workplace at the Administrative Court, but they do have access to the library and the decision database. Compensation is based on effort (see resolution of the cantonal council on the determination of the salaries of the members and substitute members of the Administrative Court dated July 7, 1997).
