Environmental Engineering Officer
Technical Office | 60-100 % | Chur
The Technical Office is responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance, and operation of cantonal roads, as well as for the implementation of hydraulic works and non-motorized traffic in Graubünden. We also take care of the operational maintenance of national roads within the canton. The cantonal road infrastructure includes over 1450 structures, including bridges up to 90 meters high and tunnels up to 3 kilometers long. The challenges that the nature of our mountain canton presents in summer and winter make our work demanding and varied. As an office certified with the Friendly Work Space label, the health and satisfaction of our approximately 480 employees are particularly important to us. For this reason, we are committed to systematic health management in the company (GSA).
The environmental engineering sector advances the further development and implementation of sustainability strategies and CO2 reduction strategies for the Technical Office and its construction projects in accordance with cantonal and federal regulations.
For the Structures Section, we are looking for from January 1, 2026 or by agreement an engineer as an environmental engineering officer.
Tasks
- Independent preparation and analysis of ecological balances for civil engineering projects (bridges, road construction, etc.)
- Support in compliance with environmental conditions and legal directives in construction
- Project and task management in sustainability matters
- Collaboration and specialist support for internal project teams dealing with resource-friendly construction, choice of building materials, and CO2 reduction measures
- Assessment of the choice of building materials in terms of environmental impact and sustainability
What we expect from you
- University or university of applied sciences degree in engineering or natural sciences (ETH, university, UAS)
- Familiarity with impact assessment methods and environmental indicators
- Solid experience in sustainability management, resource utilization, and circular economy
- Experience in the construction sector and knowledge in civil engineering are an advantage
- Conceptual, structured, and organizational skills
