Do you like taking responsibility and can you set priorities correctly? Do you remain calm in hectic situations and can you react quickly and purposefully? Do you like to keep an overview and want to contribute to a well-functioning public transport system? Then after the 8-month training, you will be in your element with us.
These are your tasks
- You direct and monitor shunting and train movements on the SZU network (S4 and S10).
- In case of operational deviations, you initiate appropriate measures and coordinate
train traffic and personnel. - You ensure customer information during normal operations and especially during
operational disruptions and irregularities. - You are responsible for vehicle deployment planning.
- You create and coordinate operational orders and processes.
These are your key competencies
- You have completed a 3-year vocational training or the Matura (high school diploma).
- You remain calm in hectic situations and quickly and correctly prioritize the tasks at hand.
- You like to take responsibility and ensure the safety of rail traffic and our passengers with your decisions and actions.
- You have a quick grasp, are strong in communication, and proficient in German, both spoken and written.
- You are a team player, willing to work shifts (24-hour operation), and have good IT skills.
- Your color vision is flawless (no red-green color blindness).
Training details
In just eight months, you qualify as a train dispatcher / train traffic controller and complete the training with theoretical and practical proficiency exams. Together with prospective train traffic controllers from other infrastructure operators (ISB), you complete the modular training. SZU covers the costs and pays you throughout the entire training period. After successful completion, a permanent position as a train dispatcher awaits you at the Zurich Giesshübel location at SZU.
Training start: June 1, 2026
