Your Tasks
The KSA is a maximum care hospital and the second university clinic of the University of Basel for Internal Medicine with 180 beds. The Clinic for Gastroenterology and Hepatology is a training center of category A, currently staffed with 1 chief physician, 2 leading physicians, 1 senior physician in training, and 3 assistant physicians. The clinic is equipped with the most modern devices for all common endoscopic procedures including ERCP and EUS with interventions, functional diagnostics with manometry, pH-metry and H2 breath tests, as well as contrast-enhanced ultrasound and Fibroscan. There are consultation hours for hepatology including care of liver transplant patients, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, and gastroenterological functional diagnostics / proctology. In cooperation with surgery, patients from all areas of highly specialized medicine are treated. Accordingly, an interesting and versatile working environment with a wide range of even complicated cases is offered to you. You will care for the entire spectrum of gastroenterological and hepatological diseases, perform endoscopic and sonographic examinations, and care for inpatient patients in the senior medical team. You participate in the consultation service for other departments, in the supervision and training of assistant physicians, and in emergency endoscopy services. You take responsibility for the area of gastroenterological functional diagnostics / proctology. If interested – and if you have not yet mastered it – there is the possibility of training in EUS and ERCP. Research activity is desired and supported.
Your Profile
You have a Swiss medical diploma or an equivalent foreign qualification recognized by MEBEKO and hold the specialist titles in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and ideally have experience as a senior physician in gastroenterology. You are proficient in sonography, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy including polypectomy. If you have no experience yet in gastroenterological functional diagnostics, you are willing to quickly familiarize yourself with the subject internally and through external training. You are a team player, resilient, and enjoy training young colleagues. A sensitive approach to patients and a willingness to engage in the concerns of the clinic complete your profile.
