Senior M&A Manager

As a Senior M&A Manager you will work in a team of 6 dedicated M&A professionals that is part of the “Corporate Development” unit within the CFO area of SIX and responsible for the group-wide M&A activities as well as the corporate investment management. The M&A team plays a critical role in the implementation of SIX’ strategy by sourcing, initiating and executing M&A projects as well as managing SIX’ portfolio of strategic minority investments. Over the last years, SIX completed several M&A transactions, including e.g. the acquisition of Bolsas y Mercados Españoles and Aquis Exchange, as well as a number of strategic minority investments.
In your role, you will lead the execution of M&A projects with a close involvement from deal sourcing to signing and closing of transactions. You will report to the Head M&A and you will be supported by more junior M&A professionals. This job offers a highly motivated and skilled individual the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, international environment as a senior M&A professional and requires a desire for hands-on involvement and the ability to cope with challenging situations and time pressure. The position will provide you with immediate exposure to SIX’ senior management across the Group, and in the mid- to long-term offers the opportunity for further development within SIX.
What You Will Do
- Lead the entire execution process of complex M&A transactions and minority investments, which includes project management, deal strategy, and negotiations
- Monitoring of relevant M&A developments in the FMI industry and deal sourcing in close collaboration with SIX’ business units and external advisors
- Represent M&A initiatives and strategic minority investments to internal decision bodies (i.e. SIX’ Executive Board and Board of Directors)
- Management of SIX’ portfolio of strategic minority investments, including potential representation of SIX on company boards
- Mentor and train more junior M&A professionals
What You Bring
- University degree and/or higher education (MBA preferred)
- 5-7 years of relevant M&A experience (i.e. Investment Banking, Corporate Finance/M&A Advisory, Private Equity, Corporate M&A) with solid execution track record (prior M&A experience in FIG, FMI or Technology industry is a plus)
- Strong work ethic and self-starter who is able to work independently and against tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to manage and influence internal and external stakeholder relationships (incl. C-suite and Board of Directors level)
- Team player with mature personality and willingness to mentor and train high-performing colleagues who are earlier in their M&A careers
- Full professional fluency in English. German and/or Spanish are a plus
