Database team leader at the Information Systems Department
The Information Systems Department (ISD) of the CHUV is looking for a database team leader at an activity rate of 80 to 100%, to lead the DBA team and ensure the performance, security, and optimization of database infrastructures.
Context
Attached to the Information Systems Department (ISD) of the CHUV, the database team is part of the Infrastructure group, which covers services related to databases, servers, computer networks, and telephony.
The team consists of 5 experienced, supportive, and committed collaborators. It manages more than 2000 databases, 100 MS SQL servers, 6 Oracle clusters on ExaCC, 100 TB of data, and up to 10,000 simultaneous connections, with advanced technical environments: Oracle Cloud ExaCC "on premise", MS SQL Always On, etc.
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in care, research, and education.
Mission
- You supervise and manage the DBA engineer team
- You advise, deploy, and administer Oracle and MS SQL databases
- You guarantee the security, availability, and integrity of data
- You implement high availability and protection strategies (RPO, RTO, replication, snapshots, backups)
- You optimize performance and ensure scalability
- You collaborate with infrastructure, application, data, and security teams
- You conduct technological watch and propose evolutions.
Profile
- You hold a university degree (ETH, HES or equivalent) in computer science
- You have proven experience in managing technical teams
- You master database administration (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL...) in complex environments
- You know monitoring and performance optimization tools
- You have an analytical mind, excellent organizational skills, and proven problem-solving abilities
- You demonstrate leadership, strong decision-making ability, and rigor
- Experience in cloud environments (Oracle, Azure, AWS, GCP) is an asset.
