As of 1 September 2025 (or by agreement), the Department of Sport Sociology & Sport Management at the Institute of Sport Science (ISPW) at the University of Bern is seeking a PhD student.
You will be part of the Department of Sport Sociology & Sport Management and will focus on research on digitalisation in sport management. You will be expected to pursue your research interests while qualifying for a PhD.
Tasks
- Planning and implementation of the PhD project in the field of digitalisation in voluntary sport organisations (e.g., acceptance of digital technologies in active sport consumption, consequences of digitalisation for voluntary sport clubs)
- Coordination, implementation and analysis of sub-studies in the context of the PhD project
- Presentation of research results at colloquia, conferences and in exchange with partners from sport management practice
- Writing and publication of scientific journal articles
Requirements
- Very good university degree (Master) in one of the following subjects: Sport Science, Sport Management, Social/Economic Sciences
- Keen interest and in-depth knowledge in the field of sport management research
- Good knowledge of empirical research methods
- Very good English skills
- Open-minded and committed personality with an independent and quality-conscious approach to work
Other beneficial skills:
- Basic German skills
