Diogenes Verlag is the largest independent fiction publisher in Europe and publishes international literature, art, and children's books.
To support our team, we are looking for an Art Buyer (m/f/d) 100% starting immediately or by arrangement, initially limited until the end of May 2027 with the option of extension.
In your area of responsibility, you will be in charge of image research and ensure that cover images and photos meet the quality standards of Diogenes Verlag and are delivered on time. You coordinate the approval process between the publisher and the departments involved in the creation of the aforementioned products. Furthermore, you are responsible for managing image rights, conducting fee negotiations, and consistent budget monitoring including invoice control. Planning and conducting author photoshoots complete your diverse range of tasks.
You have a high visual competence and a sense of aesthetics, design knowledge, negotiation and organizational skills, and remain confident and professional even under pressure. We are looking for a reliable and competent personality with training and/or studies in communication design, graphic design, media, or arts management. You have several years of professional experience in an artist or advertising agency, a photo studio, or ideally as an assistant to an Art Buyer or as an independent Art Buyer or head of art buying within an agency. In addition, you have sound knowledge of copyright and usage rights (licenses) and bring an international network of photographers, illustrators, and creative service providers to be able to work independently.
