The Asylum Center Appenzell cares for asylum seekers and those seeking protection, provisionally admitted foreigners, and persons with rejected asylum applications in various collective accommodations in the village of Appenzell.

The Social Welfare Office in the Health and Social Department is looking for a social pedagogue for the six-member core team at the asylum center, starting immediately or by arrangement, for an 80-100% position.

Your Tasks

• Professional responsibility for the area of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers
• Support and care of young refugees within the framework of the key person system
• Support and advice for families and young adults on topics such as school, health, education, daily structure, and employment
• Case-related documentation according to the guidelines of the areas minors, young adults, and vulnerable persons
• Development of needs-based daily structures, sports activities, and leisure offers for and with young people to promote their personal development, social interaction, and integration
• Active shaping of the living environment taking into account the needs and cultural backgrounds of the refugees and support with everyday tasks such as hygiene, shopping, cooking, and household management
• Contact person for internal and external specialist offices, authorities, schools, and other stakeholders, ensuring efficient and constructive communication

Your Profile

• Completed studies in social pedagogy, social work (HF/FH), or related fields
• Independent, responsible working style, flexibility, and strong team orientation
• Empathy and intercultural sensitivity for the individual needs of young people in difficult life situations
• Experience in the areas of family, children, youth, and young adults
• High resilience and assertiveness, especially in demanding and challenging situations
