About the job
Your Tasks
- Design, management and implementation of courses in the field of writing in the context of illustration and visual storytelling
- Teaching the basics and advanced practices of creative, essayistic and scenic writing in connection with image processes
- Supporting students in the development of texts for picture stories, comics, graphic novels, essays, artistic publications and project-related texts
- Promoting the understanding of text-image relationships, dramaturgy, rhythm, perspective and voice
- Assisting students in writing concepts, reflections and theoretical works
- Contributing to the further development of the study area and the department
- Close collaboration with the program management and the teaching team for continuous optimization of teaching
- Writing as part of artistic practice is central: as a tool for developing narratives, sharpening ideas, and as an independent form of expression in dialogue with visual media.
Your Profile
- Completed university degree (Master or Diploma) in literature, cultural or media studies, art, theater, dramaturgy, creative writing or a related field
- Own practice in the field of literary writing, visual storytelling, comic/graphic novel, essay or artistic text production
- Experience with narrative forms at the interface of text and image
- Interest in current discourses in illustration (fiction & non-fiction), storytelling and visual culture
- Experience working with different text forms (e.g. essay, scientific text, dramaturgical text, artistic text, project and concept texts)
- Pedagogical or didactic experience, ideally in a university context. A university certificate is desirable and can be obtained as part of the employment
- Ideally a network in the national literature and cultural scene with orientation towards current developments and discourses.
- Engagement with social issues and their integration into teaching
- Structured, independent and reliable working style as well as high initiative in developing and implementing innovative teaching concepts
- Communicative and team-oriented personality
- Very good German skills as well as good English skills, ideally French skills
