Intercultural Mediator, hourly wage, limited until the end of 2026 with option for extension
The HEKS office in Basel conducts various projects in which intercultural mediators are deployed. The projects support participants in finding their way well in their respective life situations in the Basel region.
With the program MasKu-Men's Garden we address men with a migration background from different countries of origin. For more information: MasKu-Men's Garden I HEKS
Time commitment: during the gardening season 2-4 hours/week, from November to February probably only monthly assignments
For the languages Pashto and/or Dari/Farsi (preferably both) we are looking for a
- Moderation of discussion rounds on selected topics (health promotion, education, role models)
- Conducting garden meetings with men in cooperation with the program staff
- Linguistic mediation at the meetings
- Providing information on selected topics
- Contacting and maintaining contact with participants
- Networking with migrant organizations and associations
- Training as an intercultural mediator
- Oral and written German skills at level B2 or higher
- Interest in men's work topics
- Willingness to accompany men from your own cultural background on an equal footing
- Good networking with migrant organizations or associations – or motivation to build such a network
- Enjoyment in contact with people
- Independence, initiative, and flexibility
- Residence in the Basel region
- Independent and varied activity in a transcultural context
- Scope for design
- Work in a transcultural team
