The Bern Historical Museum is one of the leading museums dedicated to cultural history in Switzerland. Its collection is conceived as an ever-expanding database, a memory of life and culture in Bern and worldwide. The history, archaeology, and ethnography collections today comprise approximately 567,000 objects, each offering insights into spheres of life from different eras and contexts.
As part of a partnership with the Swiss National Bank (SNB), the Bern Historical Museum is creating a new innovative cultural space for learning and discovery on the theme of money , located in the heart of Bern's old town. It will open in spring 2026 in the "Kaiserhaus." The Bern Historical Museum and its team will be responsible for its management, mediation, and the ongoing development of the offerings at this venue.

You are passionate about cultural mediation and eager to contribute to an authentic and warm culture of welcome?
Within the visitor center, you actively contribute to welcoming our visitors, convey content related to the exhibition themes on money in an inspiring way, and ensure that visitors feel welcome from the moment they arrive.
Your main responsibilities
- Leading introductions and interactive tours for school classes and adult groups
- Promoting dialogue and reflection around the exhibition themes
- Welcoming, guiding, and advising visitors
- Supporting the operation of the venue, communicating with the team, co-responsibility for safety, technical aspects, and exhibition spaces
- Participating in event organization
Requirements
You hold (or are in the process of obtaining) a master's degree in pedagogy, cultural mediation, economics, communication, social/human sciences, or have higher education in service fields such as tourism and hospitality. You have a strong interest in the theme of "money" and can convey it in an engaging and audience-appropriate manner. You have proven experience in mediation and enjoy interacting with diverse audiences. Recognized for your communication skills, team spirit, and stress resilience. You are proficient in German and French, as well as another language (English or Italian). You are available at least three days a week between Tuesday and Sunday and are willing to work occasionally in the evenings. You work independently and reliably.
