About us
We are the System Operations (SO) department. We combine the operational responsibilities for the 24/7 operation of the Swiss transmission grid. This starts with the teams that coordinate the shutdowns of network elements years in advance, up to real-time operation and ensuring a reliable electricity supply for Switzerland.
The department is responsible for numerous network operation processes. These include determining transmission capacities (NTC) at all Swiss borders, switching network elements, network forecasts and analyses, congestion management (including redispatch), voltage regulation, frequency control, and program management. To ensure all this, we work closely with other Swissgrid departments and represent Swissgrid in national and international committees.
