Agricultural Employee Plantahof Waldhaus

The Plantahof is a department within the Department of Economic Affairs and Social Affairs and the competence center for agricultural education and consulting in the canton of Graubünden. In addition to the agricultural vocational school, Plantahof offers various advanced courses, continuing education courses, and conferences and is responsible for comprehensive consulting and the transfer of expertise for the benefit of Bündner agricultural and alpine farms and other groups involved in agricultural topics. For these purposes, it operates its own estates at four different locations, including two farm shops. The Waldhaus estate in Chur is managed according to organic guidelines and includes the competence center for small livestock (dairy goats, dairy sheep, ewes, and laying hens), 40 hectares of agricultural land with fodder production, diverse arable farming, fruit growing, as well as its own farm shop.
We are looking for an employee with a focus on arable farming (arable and fodder crops) and mechanization for the Waldhaus estate in Chur starting January 1, 2026, or by agreement.
Your area of responsibility
- Independent completion of work in arable and fodder farming on our organic farm with around 15 ha of arable land, 23 ha of meadow and pasture land, and 1 ha of orchard
- Assistance with animal husbandry tasks (feeding, milking, and other stable work)
- Weekend relief work in the small livestock stable
- Carrying out maintenance and repair work on agricultural machines, equipment, and facilities
- Execution of groundskeeping tasks
- Support with other operational tasks as needed
What we expect from you
- Completed vocational training as a farmer or agricultural machinery mechanic with agricultural experience
- In-depth knowledge of arable and fodder farming as well as interest in stable work
- Independent work with agricultural machines
- A flair for maintenance work on machines and equipment
- Driver's license category B with trailer test, possibly forklift license
- The general working language is German. Knowledge of another cantonal language is an advantage
