2 PhD Candidates SNF Project (each 80%)
The Institute for International Cooperation in Educational Matters IZB belongs to the research and development sector of PH Zug. We conduct projects on topics such as migration, social inequalities, and internationalization in education, collaborate with partners in transition countries and the Global South, and incorporate our findings into the training and further education of teachers.
In your role as a doctoral candidate, you are part of the IZB team and contribute your knowledge and ideas to the academic discourse. Within the framework of the current research project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), you will dedicate yourself to your dissertation. The project start and employment commencement is September 1, 2026. The position is limited until August 31, 2030.
These exciting tasks await you
- Writing a dissertation within the SNSF research project "Schools Experienced as Zones of Alienation and/or Resonance" Research Part A or Research Part C (Further information can be found here and here )
- Presenting (interim) results of your dissertation at conferences
- Participating in the scientific discourse within the project team
- Smaller teaching assignments in the training and/or further education of teachers
What you bring with you
- University degree with a master's degree in educational or social sciences
- Research experience in qualitative social research, preferably with documentary method (in the case of Research Part A), or ethnographic methodology (in the case of Research Part C)
- Interest in the content of the mentioned project
- Ideally a teaching diploma for kindergarten and/or primary level as well as teaching experience
- Joy of learning, commitment, perseverance, and ability to work in a team
